Sandeep’s SELLEBRATE story

|

If there is anything you should know about me first hand, it is that I simply don’t like gifts. Now you must be thinking, what a fella like me is doing here then. Well, let me elaborate further. I don’t like unwanted, unexpected gifts, which is why the idea of gift card exchange is so appealing to me. Let me explain…

Most of my life, I have been on the receiving end of things I didn’t even need. From shoes that I didn’t like, to books I didn’t read, I have ended up with a miscellaneous list of items which have been passed on to me from friends and relatives. I like buying my own things, having the choice to pick and shop for items that catch my eye. There is no place in my wardrobe for brands I have never tried before and items that I don’t know what to do with.

So on the occasion of Bhai Duj, when my sister asked me what I wanted as a gift, I was in for a treat named gift card exchange. Though, let me take you through our private little ritual first. On every occasion, she first asks me what I want as a gift, then she proceeds to tease me with things that she bought anyway, regardless of what I really wanted. This time however, she told me that she had bought me a couple of gift cards. This caught my attention as this was a rather unusual choice for her. I nudged her further to see if she would give something more away. She maintained her silence as she didn’t want to ruin the surprise.

She just wanted me to know one thing, she said I would truly love this one. When the big day came, she told me that she had picked out 2 gift cards of my favorite brands from SELLEBRATE. She knows my taste so she got the brands right. But she also told me that just in case I didn’t like what she had given me, I had the freedom to go back to the brand and sell or exchange my gift cards for another brand’s gift cards, that I liked.

I would not be lying if I said that this brought my faith back in gifts. I now have a new cell phone and  a new leather jacket in my wardrobe, both of which were gifts, but gifts of my choice, and most importantly, gifts that I love.
